The Tmtravlr’s Arrow Trails mod adds trail to the backs of arrows fired by players. This is putting things pretty plainly, but that doesn’t make the summary an inaccurate one. To be fair though, there is more to the mod than this. If you want those arrow trails on your arrows, you’ll need to craft a few things first. A bow painter will allow you to give your arrows a specific color trail by painting the bow firing said arrows. You might want to make several different bow paints to let you try all of the different trails which are available – one trail for every color of dye.
This mod is actually very useful for a few reasons. First, it’s great for setting up specific teams for gameplay variants like Capture the Flag or King of the Hill. Tmtravlr’s Arrow Trails is also useful for the players being fired upon because they reveal the location of the shooter pretty effectively. The trails are good for both the person firing the arrows as well as the person being attacked. How many mods can claim to be good for the attacker and the victim at the same time like that? There aren’t many. There are some bugs to watch out for when using this mod though.
For one, if you use too many different dying agents when painting your bow, you can either end up with an arrow trail that doesn’t render because the game just doesn’t have that color, or you get a trail which is either solid black or white, as if the game doesn’t know how to color it. These are minor bugs and shouldn’t stop you from enjoying 90% of the content in the Tmtravlr’s Arrow Trails mod, but they’re still worth mentioning. At least this mod is compatible with the majority of other mods which add custom bows to Minecraft. The trails still work just fine most of the time.
